From Robotics to Storytelling: Sharjah Public Libraries Unveils May Programme of Educational Events
Sharjah Public Libraries has announced a month-long programme of educational, cultural and family-focused events for May, bringing together STEM learning, heritage activities, creative workshops and wellbeing sessions across its branches in the emirate.
Designed for children, young adults, parents and the wider community, the initiative reflects the growing role of public libraries as interactive learning spaces that extend beyond traditional reading programmes.

Among the highlights is STEM Little Explorers, taking place at Kalba Public Library on May 24, where children will be introduced to science, technology, engineering and mathematics through hands-on experiments, smart games, model-building and beginner robotics activities aimed at encouraging curiosity and logical thinking.
Young learners will also be able to explore the connection between creativity and technology during Colours and Software at Khorfakkan Public Library on May 17. The session combines storytelling, artificial intelligence, programming and art to demonstrate how digital tools can support creative expression.

As part of International Museum Day activities, Sharjah Library will organise Adventurers at the Museum at the Sharjah Archaeology Museum, offering children guided tours, educational games and interactive storytelling experiences inspired by ancient civilisations.
The programme also includes community and wellbeing-focused sessions for young adults and parents. In collaboration with Sharjah Police, Wadi Al Hilo Library will host a road safety awareness workshop titled My Safety on the Road Is My Priority; I Will Protect Myself, focusing on traffic awareness and responsible behaviour among youth.

Meanwhile, Harmony of Peace, Stories and Music that Unite Us will bring together music, literature and poetry in an evening celebrating coexistence, tolerance and shared cultural understanding.
Heritage and intergenerational learning also form part of the May calendar. Khorfakkan Public Library’s First Talk event, organised in cooperation with the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, will connect younger generations with Emirati traditions and experiences through conversations with senior citizens.

Family-oriented activities continue throughout the month with From Book to Book, a mobile library initiative featuring storytelling sessions and creative workshops inspired by cultures from around the world.
Through the programme, Sharjah Public Libraries continues to expand its role as a community knowledge hub, offering educational experiences that blend technology, creativity, culture and lifelong learning for audiences across the emirate.
