The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences held a forum at the Etihad Museum in Dubai on how schools and other educational institutions can turn assessment into continuous improvement.

The “Best Practices Forum in the Hamdan EFQM Model” on 28 September brought together representatives of EFQM(EFQM European Foundation for Quality Management) , education leaders and practitioners.

They shared practical experience of applying the Hamdan EFQM Educational Model.

Discussions focused on how institutions can turn assessment results into clear priorities, stronger practices and better outcomes.

H.E. Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Executive Director of the Foundation, said excellence in education is not defined by a single assessment.

“It is an institution’s ability to transform assessment into organisational knowledge, actionable decisions and continuous improvement,” he said, adding that the model gives institutions a systematic framework for understanding performance and linking ambitions with actions and outcomes.

He also said best practices gain their value when they move beyond one institution and become knowledge others can adapt and apply.

The forum, he said, aims to examine the elements behind successful experiences and make continuous improvement part of everyday school culture.

The program included a presentation on the model and its role in supporting excellence in education.

Hani Shaqlusi, Head of Service Delivery, Middle East, at EFQM, spoke on how excellence models advance institutional performance.

A panel discussion, “Distinguished Experiences and Practices in Implementing the Hamdan EFQM Educational Model”, was moderated by Dr. Rashid Muslim Al-Riyami.

The speakers were Fahad Mousa Hassan of Qatar Science and Technology School, Salama Khalfan Obaid Al Mazrouei of Qatr Al Nada School for Basic and Secondary Education, and Jamila Ahmed Jamei Al Hindasi, Director of Zayed Educational Complex in Dibba Al Fujairah.

They discussed practical approaches to applying the model and how successful practices can improve institutional and educational performance.

The foundation honored the guests and speakers for their contributions.

The event ended with an open question-and-answer session in which attendees put practical questions on institutional excellence and continuous improvement to the speakers.

The Hamdan EFQM Educational Model was developed through a partnership between the Foundation and EFQM to meet the needs of the education sector. It gives institutions a structured framework for assessing performance, identifying priorities and embedding continuous improvement.
