The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism has launched two new sustainability courses to strengthen sustainable practices in the sector.

The ‘27 Measures of Sustainability’ and ‘Dubai Sustainable Tourism’ courses were announced this week during the Arabian Travel Market 2026. Both are delivered by Dubai College of Tourism through its Dubai Way platform and will be available from 21 September.

The ‘27 Measures of Sustainability’ course will guide tourism and hospitality professionals through Dubai’s updated sustainability framework, which expands the existing 19 mandatory requirements to 27 measures.

The measures cover areas including energy and water efficiency, climate action, waste management, and responsible sourcing.

In future cycles of the Dubai Sustainable Tourism Stamp, hotels will be assessed against the new 27 measures.

The ‘Dubai Sustainable Tourism’ course, meanwhile, introduces key sustainability principles, including responsible resource consumption, waste management and circular practices, climate action, and the role of the hotel industry and Green Teams in supporting a sustainable tourism ecosystem.

Yousuf Lootah, CEO of Corporate Strategy and Performance at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), said the courses would give hotels “the knowledge and confidence to apply the updated requirements from day one.”

DET says the launch of these courses is a reflection of Dubai’s commitment to contributing towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) 2030, and the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33.
